reflections in morning, seeing the flying flag

Have we lost the sense of who we are
under red and white bars, the blue sky, and steadfast stars?
Have we forgotten what binds us together?
What is great about the land in which we live?
Who is our neighbor, for bad or for bettter?
Better not to receive but better to give.

The ideals are not lofty dreams
but are what bind us at the seams!
Justice for all & peace within the border of the nation.
Defend our sovereign state and promote no general indignation.
Let Liberty bless us to posterity.
May God guide both you and me.

Shake the shackles, break the chains.
Stand fast, stand firm
Histories lessons learned.
At the end of the day, may we remain.
